BAND V2 States
This guide explains the different operational states for the BAND V2 wearable. Understanding these states helps you ensure your device is functioning correctly and monitoring your safety effectively.
Understanding Device States
The BAND V2 moves through several states depending on its physical placement, battery level, and internal processing. Below is a breakdown of what each state means for the device and the wearer.
| State | Description |
| On Body |
The primary active state. The BAND V2 has detected skin contact and is collecting data (unless data collection has been disabled). It is now actively measuring heart rate, core temperature, and exertion. You will typically see rapidly blinking green LEDs on the underside of the device coming from the sensor. • Orange Glow Up and Brief Vibration: Device has been placed on-body. • Orange Glow Down: Device has been taken off-body and is entering Idle state. |
| On Charger |
The device has been magnetically attached to either a Single-Charger cable or a Multi-Charger Dock. • Blue Glow: Device is currently charging. • Magenta Glow: Device is fully charged. |
| Idle |
The device has recently left the on-charger or on-body state. In the Idle state, it is "waiting" to be placed on-charger or on-body. • No LED feedback |
| Power Saving |
If the device remains idle for over 3 minutes, it enters Power Saving mode to extend battery life until placed on-body or on-charger again. • No LED feedback |
| Low Power Mode |
Triggered when the battery is critically low. This state may occur even when the band is being worn if the battery becomes too low. Place the Band on charger. • No LED feedback |
| Booting |
The device is starting up or restarting. This state does not last long. • No LED feedback |
Quick Troubleshooting Tips
Is your device showing the wrong state?
If your BAND V2 is on your arm, but the app still says "Idle" or "On Charger," don’t worry! Your device is likely working perfectly.
Think of it like a text message in an area with poor cell service. The BAND V2 may have already switched modes, but it simply hasn't had a strong enough connection to "tell" the app about the change yet.
- Give it a few minutes. As soon as the device gets a solid connection (via Cellular or Gateway), the app will refresh and show the correct, current state.
- If you believe that the state is truly stuck, then hard reboot the device.
- Trust what the device is doing physically (like the vibrating "On Body" alert) over what the screen shows if you are in a building with a weak signal.
Why is my device showing red flashing LEDs as soon as I put it on-body?
This indicates a Hardware Error. Please contact your administrator or SlateSafety support.
Why is my device showing orange and white LEDs?
This indicates the device is updating to new firmware version. Typically this occurs when the Band is on-charger and a new firmware version is available. Updates last about 1 minute and then the device will reboot.
Note: When the device transitions to On Body, you should feel one short vibration to confirm it has begun monitoring.
