Important Safety Information for BAND V2
WARNING: Failure for you or any BAND V2 wearer at your organization to follow these safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the BAND V2 or other property. Read all the safety information below before using the BAND V2.
Handling. The BAND V2 contains sensitive electronic components and can be damaged if dropped, burned, punctured, or crushed. The BAND V2 plastics may chip or crack if dropped or subjected to forceful impact. Ensure that no one at your organization uses a damaged BAND V2, such as one with cracked plastic, visible liquid intrusion, or a damaged band, as it may cause injury.
Repairing. Ensure that no one at your organization opens a BAND V2 or attempts to repair a BAND V2 themself. If a BAND V2 is damaged or malfunctions, contact SlateSafety at support@slatesafety.com.
Battery. Don’t allow anyone to attempt to replace the BAND V2 battery themself—they may damage the battery, which could cause overheating and injury. The lithium-ion battery in the BAND V2 should be serviced only by SlateSafety. Your organization may receive a replacement BAND V2 (in place of your original device) when ordering battery service. Batteries must be recycled or disposed of separately from household waste. Don’t incinerate the battery.
Charging. Charge the BAND V2 with the included BAND V2 Single-Charger magnetic charger and a compatible SlateSafety power adapter (sold separately). You may also charge SlateSafety with third-party power adapters that are compliant with USB 2.0 or later and with applicable country regulations and international and regional safety standards. Other adapters may not meet applicable safety standards, and charging with such adapters could pose a risk of death or injury.
Using damaged cables or chargers, or charging when moisture is present, can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the BAND V2 or other property. When anyone at your organization uses the BAND V2 magnetic charging accessories with a power adapter to charge the BAND V2, make sure the cable or dock is fully inserted into the power adapter before they plug the adapter into a power outlet. It’s important to keep the BAND V2 and the BAND V2 magnetic charging accessories, and the power adapter in a well-ventilated area when in use or charging.
Prolonged heat exposure. The BAND V2 and the BAND V2 magnetic charging accessories, and the power adapter comply with required surface temperature limits defined by applicable country regulations and international and regional safety standards. However, even within these limits, sustained contact with warm surfaces for long periods of time may cause discomfort or injury. The BAND V2, the BAND V2 magnetic charging accessories, and the power adapter will become warm when plugged into a power source. Ensure each wearer uses common sense to avoid situations where their skin is in contact with the BAND V2, the BAND V2 magnetic charging accessories, or the power adapter for long periods of time when they’re plugged in. For example, while the BAND V2 is charging or while the BAND V2 magnetic charging accessories or the power adapter are plugged into a power source, ensure wearers don’t sleep on them or place them under a blanket, pillow, or their body. Ensure wearers take special care if they have a physical condition that affects their ability to detect heat against the body. Ensure wearers remove their BAND V2 if it becomes uncomfortably warm.
Radio frequency exposure. BAND V2 uses radio signals to connect to wireless networks. The BAND V2 is FCC Certified. The FCCID is 2A357002. The grant information can be looked up here: https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid.
Radio frequency interference. Ensure BAND V2 wearers observe signs and notices that prohibit or restrict the use of electronic devices. Although BAND V2 and accessories are designed, tested, and manufactured to comply with regulations governing radio frequency emissions, such emissions from BAND V2 and accessories can negatively affect the operation of other electronic equipment, causing them to malfunction. Ensure wearers unplug and do not wear BAND V2 when use is prohibited, such as while traveling in aircraft, or when asked to do so by authorities.
Medical device interference. BAND V2 and BAND V2 single and multi-charger accessories contain magnets as well as components and/or radios that emit electromagnetic fields. These magnets and electromagnetic fields might interfere with medical devices.
Ensure each BAND V2 wearer consults their physician and medical device manufacturer for information specific to their medical device and whether they need to maintain a safe distance of separation between their medical device and BAND V2, and BAND V2 single, and multi-charger accessories. Manufacturers often provide recommendations on the safe use of their devices around wireless or magnetic products to prevent possible interference. Ensure wearers stop using BAND V2, BAND V2 single-charger, and BAND V2 multi-charger accessories if they suspect these products are interfering with their medical device.
Medical devices such as implanted pacemakers and defibrillators may contain sensors that respond to magnets and radios when in close contact. To avoid any potential interactions with these devices, keep each BAND V2, and BAND V2 single, and multi-charger accessories a safe distance away from any medical device (greater than 6 inches/15 cm, but consult with a physician and the device manufacturer for specific guidelines).
Not a medical device. BAND V2 is not a medical device and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical judgment. It is not designed or intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of any condition or disease. Please have each BAND V2 wearer consult with their healthcare provider prior to making any decisions related to their health.
Explosive and other atmospheric conditions. Charging or using BAND V2 in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, such as areas where the air contains high levels of flammable chemicals, vapors, or particles (such as grain, dust, or metal powders), may be hazardous. Exposing BAND V2 to environments having high concentrations of industrial chemicals, including near evaporating liquified gasses such as helium, may damage or impair BAND V2 functionality. Obey all signs and instructions. This section applies unless using a BAND V2 that is certified for explosive and other atmospheric conditions.
High-consequence activities. BAND V2 is not intended for use where the failure of the device could lead to death, personal injury, or severe environmental damage.
Choking hazard. Some SlateSafety straps may present a choking hazard to small children. Keep these straps away from small children.
Skin sensitivities. Some people may experience reactions to certain materials used in jewelry, watches, and other wearable items that are in prolonged contact with their skin. This can be due to allergies, environmental factors, extended exposure to irritants like soap, sweat, or other causes. BAND V2 wearers may be more likely to experience irritation from any wearable device if they have allergies or other sensitivities. If a wearer has known skin sensitivities, please have them take special care when wearing the BAND V2. They may be more likely to experience irritation from the BAND V2 if they wear it too tightly. Tell BAND V2 wearers to move or remove their BAND V2 periodically to allow their skin to breathe. Keeping the BAND V2 and the associated strap clean and dry will reduce the possibility of skin irritation. If they experience redness, swelling, itchiness, or any other irritation or discomfort on their skin around, or beneath, their BAND V2, please remove the BAND V2 or move the BAND V2 to a different location on their arm and have them consult their physician before resuming wear. Continued use, even after symptoms subside, may result in renewed or increased irritation.
