How to Clean BAND V2s

The BAND V2 is a rugged, reliable, easy-to-use physiological heat stress monitoring device. SlateSafety® products are made to withstand high temperatures, dangerous work environments and heavy-duty PPE, meaning they often become dirty. Regular cleaning is recommended to keep the device functioning correctly and can be completed using basic dish soap and a sponge.


Supplies needed: 

Recommended Sanitizers: 

The below is recommended in priority order:

  1. Basic dish soap (e.g. Total Home Earth Essentials® Biobased Dish Soap)
  2. Isopropyl Alcohol Wipes (e.g. PDI Super Sani-Cloth Germicidal Disposable Wipe or Cole-Parmer Essentials Clean Wipes)
  3. Hydrogen Peroxide Wipe (e.g. PreEmpt Wipes)

Please note: The brands listed above have been explicitly tested on the BAND V2 plastics and have been proven to work well. If you are purchasing other brands it is important to make sure there are no extra chemicals included such as any quats, ethanol or acetone.


Cleaning Process

With Dish Soap 

  1. Unassign any existing user from the BAND V2
  2. Remove the strap from the BAND V2
  3. Fill a container with water and submerge the device into it
  4. Take the cleaning aid and lather it with a basic dish soap 
  5. Gently scrub the BAND V2 with the cleaning aid, making sure to remove all dirt
  6. Rinse soap off of the device
  7. Dry using a towel

With PDI Super Sani-Cloth Germicidal Disposable Wipe

  1. Unassign any existing user from the BAND V2
  2. Remove any straps from the BAND V2
  3. Take a PDI Super Sani-Cloth Germicidal Disposable Wipe and gently disinfect the BAND V2, making sure to remove all dirt 
  4. Dry with a towel
