What is a Tap Alert?
The Tap Alert feature allow wearers of BAND V2s to intentionally trigger an alert in order to notify Alert Contacts. A Tap Alert can be used as an SOS or call for help by wearers. If the BAND V2 has connection to the cloud either via cellular network or GATEWAY V2, then Alert Contacts specified on the Organization page can also receive a text message notification to their mobile device.
Instructions to Enable Tap Alerts
Tap Alerts can be enabled or disabled for each Loadout on the Organization page. The option to enable Tap Alerts is located under the Features section of the Loadout. Below is an example of having Tap Alert enabled.
How a Wearer can Trigger a Tap Alert
While wearing a BAND V2, you can trigger an Tap Alert by using the palm of your hand to double tap the face of the BAND V2 and then holding your hand against it for 3 seconds. The video below gives a great demonstration.
Note: If you are having problems getting Tap Alerts to trigger, try to tap the top of the BAND V2 harder, and remember to hold the top of the BAND V2 for a couple seconds after.
Why not just have a button to send an alert?
Great question. For many users, their BAND V2 is worn underneath a sleeve or PPE, which may make a button difficult to press. With Tap Alert, the user can still trigger the alert through several layers.
